Junior Team England - here they come!

The top 20 bowlers from the NAYBC Junior Team England under 16s and under 19 Rankings were invited to the Triple Crown Trials event at Poole last weekend. Four bowlers from Wellingborough Ybc qualified for this event. They had to bowl 16 games - 8 in the morning on a long oil pattern and 8 in the afternoon on a short pattern, changing lanes after every game.

The top six in each division, boys and girls, qualified for the Triple Crown in Scotland in August.

We are delighted to announce that Jack Barwick qualified in 2nd place in the under 16 boys, and Evie Giddens was 2nd and Elyse Giddens 4th in the under 19 girls.

We are therefore delighted to announce that Jack, Evie and Elyse are all travelling to Scotland in July as members of Junior Team England for the 2017 Junior Triple Crown which sees England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales compete.

Very well done to all of you.  Good luck and good bowling in Scotland!

Bowling Shoes

The Staff at AMF Wellingborough have reported to us that a lot of you are being very selective about what shoes they supply and it is taking too long to find the pair that you are happy with.  If you do not consider the shoes at the bowl satisfactory for your needs - they do let you use them for free - please buy your own personal shoes.

Junior Team England Development Squad

The development squad is a new thing this year, and is an invited group of young bowlers who have been earmarked for extra training which should hopefully benefit them for the future.  Although there is no guarantee of a place in the Junior Team England Squad they will train alongside them to attain the level of training required, and to receive advice on their physical and mental game.  The new squad consists of 4 boys and 4 girls.

We are delighted to announce that Wellingborough Ybc bowler Elyse Giddens is one of the first to be invited to be a part of the development squad.

Well done Elyse.  We are very proud of you.

E.T.B.F. Coaches.

On Saturday 8th July, 8 people attended a Fundamentals course at Wellingborough.   Unfortunately Andy Harris was very unwell and was unable to attend.  Steve Bean took his place.

The existing Instructors who are now ETBF Coaches are:

Beris Corke
Mick Hall
John York

New Coaches are:

Rhys Bean
Steve Bean
Alan Hyde
Scott Moore
David Sillis

We welcome them to the Wellingborough Ybc team.

We have to thank long standing Btba Instructors Beris Corke, Mick Hall, Andy Harris, Alan Wills and John York, also our Official Helper Dougie Page, for the stirling work they do each week.  None of them have children bowling at the Ybc any longer but they all turn up regular as clockwork to enable our Ybc to be the great club that it is.
Scarily, the next generation are appearing, as Mick has a Grandson, Max, that has joined our Ybc recently.

Request from AMF Management
